Last week, the Fordway team came together for a brilliant afternoon of friendly competition, food, and fun at our annual Fordway Summer Social.
From bake-offs to bowls, a retro sweets challenge to a surprisingly competitive round of “spot the Beatle” (yes – as in Paul McCartney, not the insect), the day was packed with good-humoured rivalry and genuine team spirit.

A few highlights from the day:
Darren came out top in “People and Places”, though it took a tiebreaker with Jo to clinch the win
Raph narrowly won the “Baby Face” competition in another tense tiebreaker against Liam
Richard showed impressive aim in the “Golf Dart Board” game
In the bake-off, Shaida wowed with presentation, and Amanda claimed top marks for taste
Jason guessed the exact number of rhubarbs and custards, while Chris (Elliott) nailed the cola bottles count
And then there was the bowling!
What started as a relaxed post-pizza activity quickly turned into one of the most entertaining parts of the day. With a mixture of natural flair and sheer beginners’ luck, several team members revealed unexpected bowls talent. There were a few rogue shots, plenty of laughter, and a surprisingly tense final few ends.
The best bit? The local bowls club was so impressed with the level of enthusiasm (and maybe the technique) that they’ve invited Fordway staff to join their Thursday open evenings from 6.30pm. So if you’re looking for a new hobby that involves precision, good company, and the occasional drink – now’s your chance.
And of course, a massive congratulations to Justin Hobbs, our well-deserved Employee of the Quarter, who received both the prestigious Fordway Fleece and the usual prize of £100 or a well-earned day off. Special commendations also go to Will Hornsby, Chris Ryan, and Nathan Carrington for embodying our values day in, day out.
And yes – there were puppy cuddles, courtesy of the wonderful Lagertha . You’re welcome.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped organise the day. It was great to see so many faces in the office and enjoy a bit of time together outside of our usual routines.
Here’s to more fun times ahead – and to finally finding Paul and John next year…
