Office 365

Moving all or some of your services to the public cloud is not trivial.  Fordway has significant experience and expertise in migrating organisations’ IT Services to cloud.  Engaging us to assist your migration will ensure your transition will happen as planned, to an agreed timetable and cost, with minimum disruption to services.  Fordway helps organisations leverage Azure, Office 365 and their associated services such as Microsoft Intune, Enterprise Mobility + Security, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams.

Migrate to Office 365 using the Fordway Proven Process

Fordway are specialists providing high quality solutions to complex IT problems. We work to our ‘Proven Process’ to ensure our customers realise their business goals.

The Fordway Proven Process

Step1 – Engage

Before any Office 365 migration is undertaken it is important to understand and map out the existing environment and clearly define your business objectives. Fordway’s first step in the proven process is ‘Engage’.  Here we assess and identify your best O365 strategy.

Step 2 – Analyse

Our discovery workshops will enable Fordway to perform a high-level review of the current environment.  Our qualified architects will analyse the current baseline and produce high-level target architectures that will meet your technical and business objectives.  Options will be discussed specific to O365 such as Azure Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), Office 365 subscription options and the numerous Microsoft and 3rd party add-ons available.  Once the review is complete the findings will be presented and an options analysis undertaken where we will discuss our opinions and recommendations.  From here the high-level design can be produced and sign-off obtained.

Step 3 – Plan

With the HLD agreed we will get into the detailed planning focusing on O365 technologies that are critical to a successful deployment.  Firstly, how will you authenticate with Office 365?  Basic ADFS functionality can be achieved with a fairly small footprint or scaled to fully resilient multisite solution.  Fordway will help identify your deployment goals whether it be account synchronisation, Password Sync, Pass-through Authentication or enabling more advanced features such as proving a web-based SSO experience, multi-factor authentication or global security policies.  The business and technical requirements will govern the Azure AD product selection from Free, Basic, Premium P1, and Premium P2 editions.

Additional Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) options include:

  • Azure Multi-Factor Authentication
  • Azure Information Protection
  • Azure Advanced Threat Protection
  • Microsoft Intune
  • Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics
  • Microsoft Cloud App Security
  • Microsoft Identity Manager
  • Azure AD Connect Health

There are a number of Office 365 subscriptions available for both Business and Enterprise, dependent on organisation size and application requirements.  Fordway will determine the best fit for your business and deliver it through our Microsoft CSP status. As an accredited Tier 1 (direct) CSP partner Fordway are fully trained and certified by Microsoft, we are committed to providing high-quality advice and services through the management of our customer’s Microsoft subscriptions including purchasing, billing and licensing models.

One of the key factors when choosing your subscription is the selection of additional products that will ensure you get the most of our Office 365 and increase user productivity.

Available Office 365 products include:

  • Microsoft Intune
  • SharePoint Online
  • OneDrive for Business
  • Skype for Business online (SfB)
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Power BI
  • Microsoft Streams
  • Microsoft Flow
  • Azure Multi-Factor Authentication

Whether it be mobile device management through Microsoft Intune, enabling Advanced Threat Analytics to detect suspicious activity in your environment, deploying Skype for Business (SfB) Online with all the Cloud PBX, PSTN Conferencing, and other native-cloud features for telephony or migrating your existing SfB environment to Teams, Fordway will ensure you achieve your goals.

There are also a number of useful 3rd party enhancements to Office 365 that we would recommend organisations consider.  These include data security, compliance, backup and resilience options.  Fordway’s Cloud Endpoint Protection Service, which is a licensed version of Druva Insync, provides a physically separate Office 365 backup service plus regulatory compliance checking for GDPR.  A full Service Description and pricing is available through G-Cloud.

Step 4 – Transform

A dedicated project manager will manage all aspects of the planning, migration and service initiation on AWS.  We use industry standard PRINCE2 project controls for the project governance and documentation, with work packages delivering using Agile sprints within the defined project controls.  The project manager will provide reports and other project updates through an agreed shared communications plan.

Step 5 – Realise

With the migration successfully completed we move into the Realise phase, the final phase of the ‘Proven Process’.  This is the most important phase, that ensures that the desired outcome is achieved, and the business benefits are realised.

Under this phase, we either help your internal staff to achieve the benefits, or take responsibility for service delivery, assurance and management on our customers’ behalf.  To assist an in house team we provide comprehensive documentation and perform detailed knowledge transfer workshops to ensure your teams are equipped to support all aspects going forward.

If Fordway are responsible for managing the service our service delivery and management teams will be primed to ensure the transition to steady run state is as frictionless as possible.  All our service delivery processes are run to ITIL, certified to ISO20001 and ISO9001, and secured to ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials PLUS.

Fordway will provide ongoing Office 365, Intune and other service subscription management such as financial spend and access control.  In addition Fordway can provide end user support through our 24×7 Service Desk. Other service add-ons available from Fordway are:

  • A nominated Fordway Service Delivery Manager to provide internal escalation, service management and scheduled Service Reviews.
